Holland-Cycling.com is an internet guide to cycling in Holland. We do not organise cycling holidays ourselves. To help you on your way, we made a selection of the most popular cycling holidays offered by Dutch tour operators. The information on this page is provided by the tour operator.

Holland's 'Green Heart' and historic towns

It doesn’t get any better than the Holland Southern Tour on board your home away from home, the ships De Amsterdam or De Holland. Not only will you get the chance to visit a number of famous Dutch cities, but you will also uncover another side of Holland as you cycle through the countryside – the country’s “Green Heart”.

Bike Boat Southern Tour

Tour operator: Boat-Bike Tours
Type of holiday: self-guided, bike-boat tour
Luggage transport: included
Accommodation: cabin (boat)
Number of days: 8 days
Price: from € 699,-

It is here that you will see a landscape of water, meadows, grazing cows, windmills and picturesque farms… it is a landscape that is impossible to feel or look any more Dutch. In short the Southern Tour is the perfect tour for anyone wanting to see as much of “typical” central Holland as is possible in one week.

What you will come away with at the end of the tour is a greater appreciation of why this part of the Netherlands attracts so many visitors from all corners of the globe every year. As well as being able to discover the natural beauty of Holland’s Green Heart you will visit:

  • The world famous city of Amsterdam
  • Utrecht, the geographical centre of Holland
  • Rotterdam, the busiest port in Europe
  • Delft, a city with close ties to the Dutch Royal family and the world renowned painter Johannes Vermeer
  • Haarlem, a sightseers’ paradise
Semi-guided cycling tours: daily individual cycling at your own pace. The tour leader also cycles all tours and is available for tips, directions and in cases of emergency.

Other attractions over the course of the tour include the cheese city of Gouda, the windmills at Kinderdijk, the silver city of Schoonhoven, the dunes and beaches of the North Sea coastline and the open air museum “Zaanse Schans”.

On five departure dates in 2018, De Holland will be sailing on the Northern Tour of Holland. This gives you the opportunity to book the “Grand Tour of Holland” and travel 2 weeks on the same ship and in the same cabin.

De Amsterdam

De Amsterdam is a 311 ft. long and 36 ft. wide, very well equipped river cruise ship. The vessel has 56 staterooms for max. 112 passengers. All staterooms are outside cabins.

The lower deck has 10 twin cabins and 20 superior twin cabins (approx. 135 sq.ft.). All cabins have an individual climate control system, digital TV, roomy wardrobe, mini-safe, hair dryer, 230V and 115V sockets, 2 separate single beds (78 x 31 inches) and a private bathroom with shower, toilet, basin and bath products. All twin cabins have a large picture window (4.59 ft. x 2.95 ft.) that can be partly opened. The difference between twin and superior twin cabins on the lower deck is their location in relation to the engine room, stairs and salon.

The upper deck offers 18 identical superior twin cabins and 8 spacious French Balcony Suites. The Suites (approx. 200 sq. ft.) have the same amenities as the superior twin cabins, but are larger and – in addition – also have a mini-bar and a “French Balcony” (floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors) instead of a window. The beds in all suites are set as a hotel-style bed (78 x 62 inches) and can, optional (on request), be set as two separate single beds (78 x 31 inches).

De Amsterdam has a restaurant on the lower deck. You can enjoy the scenery in the cozy lounge/bar with dance floor and large panoramic windows on the upper deck. In the bar/lounge, Wi-Fi is available for guests (complimentary limited data packages included/additional data packages can be purchased online). On the partially roofed sun deck, chairs and sun loungers invite for a stay. Bicycles will be stored on a separate part of the sun deck.

Inside areas of De Amsterdam are non-smoking areas; the sun deck has a smokers’ area. Onboard languages: English/German (international guests, international crew).

De Holland

De Holland is a 257 ft. long and 24 ft. wide cozy river cruise ship. The vessel has 34 cabins for max. 68-72 passengers. All of the rooms are well-equipped outside cabins.

The lower deck has 24 twin cabins. All cabins (approx. 108 sq.ft.) have an individual climate control system, digital TV, mini-safe, small wardrobe, hair dryer, 230V sockets, 2 single beds (78 x 31 inches) and a private bathroom with shower, toilet and bath products and a window (2.55 ft. x 1.28 ft.) that – for safety reasons – cannot be opened. Three “regular” twin cabins in the front have single beds, set in L-shape, and an additional Pullman Bed as optional third bed. Five twin cabins and 16 “superior” twin cabins have separate beds, set next to each other as a hotel style bed (78 x 62 inches). The difference between twin and superior twin cabins on the lower deck is their location in relation to engine room, stairs and salon and/or (in 3 cases) beds set in L-shape (optional triple cabin).

The upper deck offers 9 identical superior twin cabins (accommodation: s. lower deck) and 1 suite. The suite (approx. 140 sq. ft.) has the same amenities as the superior twin cabins, but is larger and – in addition – also has a mini-bar and a sofa bed as optional third bed. All upper premium deck cabins and the suite have a “French Balcony” (floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors) instead of a regular window. Beds in most cabins are normally set as hotel-style beds (78 x 62 inches) or, optional, on previous request, can be arranged as 2 separate single beds (78 x 31 inches).

De Holland has a large salon with large panoramic windows on the upper deck that combines the restaurant, bar and a lounge area. Wi-Fi is available for guests in the salon (limited data packages included / additional data packages can be purchased online). On the partially roofed sun deck, chairs and sun loungers invite for a stay. Bicycles will be stored on a separate part of the sun deck.

Inside areas of De Holland are non-smoking areas; the sun deck has a smokers’ area. Onboard languages: English/German (international guests, international crew).
