This route takes you through the flat, open pastureland of Friesland, famous for its Frisian cows, to several of Friesland's lakes. Highlight of the route is the Hanseatic town of Hindeloopen.

From the historic village of Workum, you cycle via the lakes Vlakke Brekken and Oudegaaster Brekken to Oudega and the bustling water sports town of Heeg. At Gaastmeer you take the ferry to the hamlet of It Heideskip. From the former fishing village of Molkwerum, now famous for its local speciality Molkwarder Koeken, you follow the dyke along the former Zuiderzee to Hindeloopen. From here the route takes you back to Workum train station.
