Gouda Silver & River Bike Tour

Starting at Gouda’s Market square, we cycle along the picturesque, winding River Vlist which forms the eastern boundary of the Krimpenerwaard Polder. After enjoying the gorgeous vistas for an hour or so, we arrive in Schoonhoven, the 'silver capital’ of Holland. Here we will stroll around the historic centre and have some time for shopping and refreshments.

After lunch we cross the River Lek by ferry to visit Nieuwpoort, one of the smallest fortified towns in the Netherlands. Nieuwpoort played an important role in the Old Hollandic Waterline, a water-based defence system.

Crossing the river again, we hop on our bikes to visit the village of Haastrecht. At a local cheese farm you are invited to sample real Gouda cheese, and the farmer will show you how the cheese is produced in the traditional way. After this stop we return to Gouda, where our tour ends at the market square.
