Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) is now a world famous painter, but during his lifetime few people knew or appreciated his work. For much of his life he lived in the province of Brabant, drawing and painting everyday people and objects.

From Van Gogh’s house of birth in Zundert to where the The Potato Eaters lived and the old watermill in Nuenen - along this route you can find out more about Van Gogh’s life and work. You can also enjoy the Brabant countryside he loved so much and see different locations which inspired him. In 2014 part of the cycle route near Nuenen has been turned into the world's first glow-in-the-dark cycle path, inspired by Van Gogh's painting The Starry Night. The Van Gogh Cycle Route, which follows the numbered cycle network, is signposted. The brochure Fiets door de wereld van Vincent van Gogh (in Dutch) gives you maps and information on the highlights along the route. There are also downloadable GPS tracks available.
