Sandy beaches, windswept dunes, Delta Works - the LF Coastal Route takes you all along the coast of the North Sea and Wadden Sea - from the Belgian to the German border. It is the Dutch section of the North Sea Cycle Route (EuroVelo 12).
Please note:

From 1 April 2019 to 2025 the Afsluitdijk is closed for cyclists due to maintenance. A free bus service for you and your bike will be provided. For up-to-date information and alternative cycle route, see: Afsluitdijk closed for cyclists

From natural sand dunes to the Delta Works, a masterpiece of engineering - cycling along the North Sea and Wadden Sea coast, you can fully appreciate the ingenuity and effort the Dutch have put into protecting their low-lying country from the sea. Get off your bike to enjoy the old fishing villages and seaside resorts, or take a walk along the sandy beaches. And if the weather’s good, take a dip in the sea.

In the fishing villages of Harlingen and Lauwersoog you can take a ferry to one of the Wadden Islands. You also get to cycle over the Afsluitdijk, an impressive 32-km dam that closes off the former Zuiderzee - it’s something you should experience at least once in your life!
